Harpy Eagle

Description

This amazing creature is a male Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja). I have never before seen one in person. I was able to snap off some pictures at a local conservation place. They naturally roam a lot of the same areas that clouded leopards do. Thanks to *The-Dude-L-Bug for the additional information. Here is a website I tracked down to show their habitats. [link]

Personal note:

There is always improvement to be made with any photographer, artist or writer, the way we learn is through others critiquing our work in gentle supportive ways. If there is anything I can learn from never hesitate. :hug:

I will put this up for print without the watermark if anyone is interested.

This is a very good pic of a relaxed Harpy Eagle.

For some, that in itself would be a let down;
This bird is at it's most impressive when excited.

For me, good clear, close shots of such rare & regal creatures in any positions are incredibly unique.
While the position is not as outright dramatic as that iconic straight-on, crest flared shot,
this side profile gives the viewer an excellent idea of how long those distinctive head feathers are in comparison to the rest.

The background's blurred natural colours with that bright area work perfectly to highlight the subject.

The composition is good, though personally I would have cropped a little off the left, just to make it bit more center frame. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" title=";) (Wink)" />

Focus and the DOF is great as usual.
LOL! Though it may label my opinion biased, I will readily admit to being a fan of her work and this shot doesn't disappoint.
